In 2015, she founded True Love Yoga, a thriving community studio dedicated to making excellent yoga teaching financially accessible. Three years later, Lauren launched the True Love Yoga 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program, through which she has trained over 150 yoga teachers.

Lauren’s expertise spans various modalities, including Vinyasa Yoga, Trauma-Aware Yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, Dharma Coaching, and Myofascial Release. Her teachings have reached global audiences through international yoga retreats and her book, Embody Your Inner Goddess: A Guided Journey to Radical Wholeness, published in 2023. She also shares her knowledge as the host of the podcast Deepen Your Practice.

In her personal life, Lauren is a devoted mother and an enthusiastic amateur gardener.

Sedona A

Yoga Teacher

Sedona’s devotion to living artfully is the driving force behind empowering classes that emphasize awareness, embodiment, and authenticity.

Sedona is an artist and yoga teacher who has been cultivating community in Kansas City since 2013 with unique offerings. In 2019, she graduated with 500-hour credentials from Colorado School of Yoga with Gina Caputo, creatrix of Integrated Vinyasa™, a system of yoga that “illuminates our wholeness, our relationship to Nature, and an energetically sustainable approach to living fully.” Sedona is Founder of Yoga + Hiking in Kansas City, leads yoga retreats world wide, is a faculty member of Karma Tribe Yoga’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training program and is a presenter for Westport Yoga’s Advanced Yoga Teacher Trainings.

With a trauma-informed approach to teaching that is steeped in personal experience and anchored in the belief that everybody deserves to benefit from the practices of yoga, Sedona encourages you to embrace your individual experience. Come as you are and take refuge knowing that she has mindfully crafted an accessible, inclusive class for you. Rich with creativity, peppered with humor and woven together with pearls of wisdom, Sedona’s classes are intelligently designed to help you find more freedom in every facet of life.

Outside of her yoga teaching practice, Sedona loves to paint, play guitar, take in a live show, travel, laugh with friends, drink coffee, read, snuggle her precious cats, Lou and Lilu, and hike with her beloved dog, Ruby Joon.

Liz K

Yoga Teacher

One of Liz’s core beliefs is that when people connect to their bodies through joyful movement, they connect back to their humanity. Connecting to our humanity allows us to own our stories and makes the world a better place. This remains her guiding principle as a teacher and steward of yoga.

Liz has worked as an artist and non-profit administrator in the KCMO area since 2013. After injuring her back in her early twenties, Liz came to yoga looking for help managing chronic pain. Her first teacher, Shanell Peterson, helped her find much more than pain relief: community, connection to self, and physical challenge unlike any she had experienced. Liz committed to 200-hour yoga teacher training with Lauren Leduc and Sam Megraw in 2021, where she came to respect the history of the practice and understand more-clearly it’s purpose in her life. Time and again, yoga has helped Liz move through and heal the physical and mental wounds of the world and remember her humanity when she most needs it.

When coming to Liz’s class, you can expect an inclusive environment focused on giving control and agency to the student. Liz loves encouraging her students to make intelligent choices based on their needs and providing a trauma-informed space where students can show up exactly as they are. She believes it is her duty as a fat-bodied person with many injuries and scars to serve as living proof that yoga can benefit every person and every body from every walk of life.

Off the mat, Liz spends her time making art, binging podcasts, and taking long walks with her big, goofy dog.

Erin C

Yoga Teacher

Erin’s yoga journey began when she was 24 and about to graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute. This newfound practice showed her how to slow down and gave her the tools to live a life of purpose and intention. Yoga has profoundly impacted her life on and off the mat: from learning how to develop self trust, move through uncomfortable situations, and most importantly, how to deeply enjoy this time spent in her mind and body.
Erin studied under Lauren Leduc at True Love Yoga and in 2022 completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification. In her classes, you can expect a fun and lively vinyasa flow with a balance of challenge and release. Outside of the yoga studio, you can find Erin making ceramics, tending to her garden or lounging around in a hammock with a book and a journal.

Maddie M

Yoga Teacher

The most joy that Maddie feels is from creating + experiencing moments of deep connection. She feels that her purpose on this earth is to be a facilitator of these moments.

When the pandemic left playing music (Maddie’s main creative outlet) less accessible, she turned to movement for comfort. Yoga provided a new type of outlet for her- an outlet that only asked her to show up with an open heart and make peace with her body. Whether over Zoom or in person, she loved experiencing this alongside other students. She very quickly realized that she wanted to become a yoga teacher.

Maddie completed True Love Yoga’s 200 HR teacher training in 2022 in Kansas City with an emphasis in Vinyasa + Hatha Yoga. Although she was living in Nashville at the time, she felt particularly drawn to this out of town training due to it’s trauma-informed perspective and dedication to humbly honoring the roots of the practice. Her teachers- Lauren Leduc, Emily Overland, and Bri Howard- inspired her welcoming approach to teaching. She travelled to Kansas City specifically for this training until she made the move in September of 2022.

When attending Maddie’s classes, you might notice an emphasis on autonomy.

Her goal is for her students to feel that she is gently guiding them through the beautiful + personal practice of yoga.

Marie G

Yoga Teacher

Marie’s introduction to yoga was a kundalini yoga dvd she purchased in 2008 that promised it would help her quit smoking. Practicing alone on the floor with no yoga mat, she still desperately wanted a cigarette but knew there was something incredibly special about this way of moving and breathing. When the DVD got scratched, she replaced it.

She slowly made her way toward a regular practice in the following years. In 2022, she completed her 200 hour RYT teacher training at True Love Yoga with Lauren Leduc, Emily Overland and Bri Howard.

Marie believes that practicing yoga invites conversation between mind body and spirit, and that magic happens here.

She strives to be a trauma informed guide for your practice.

Off the mat (yes, she has a yoga mat now), Marie works as a photo and video producer. She has a background in fine art from the Kansas City Art Institute. She loves flowers, Bonnard paintings, being in water, and traveling.

Evy A

Yoga Teacher

Evy is dedicated to her community, both human and natural. She is a long time environmentalist and is passionate about caring for who and what is around her. Evy has been practicing yoga since 2006 and completed her 200-hr teacher training at True Love Yoga in Kansas City in 2022.

Evy is continuously studying how to practice the asanas safely and in a way that strengthens the body, and she loves to pass on the wisdom she gained from her many teachers in the Americas, Europe and Africa. Evy primarily practices vinyasa, hatha and ashtanga yoga and cultivates the balance, peace and strength that yoga provides.

Evy firmly believes that yoga is accessible to all and she creates a space where each person can be unique. Yoga is a constant that is always available to come back to wherever you are in the world or whatever path you are currently on.

Maggie C

Yoga Teacher, Community & Facilities Manager

Maggie is a curious soul whose life-long obsession with learning new things has lead her to unlikely places. A passionate writer and history buff, Maggie is most comfortable diving down rabbit holes in search of new information and experiences.

Maggie first experienced yoga when she was 13, and her father brought home a turquoise blue yoga mat and Rodney Yee’s Yoga for Athletes DVD. Since then, she has developed her personal practice in studios from Tennessee to Missouri with teachers of various styles and backgrounds, as well as virtually with online teachers.

Students who take Maggie’s classes can expect an atmosphere of exploration where all are welcome to unearth new experiences within their practice. Her classes include an interesting blend of foundational poses and challenging asanas where students can play with self-discovery while connecting with the breath.

Maggie’s experience as a new mother in 2021 inspired her to reconnect with herself and her yoga practice in new ways. She received her 200-hour certification from True Love Yoga in 2023. Her teachers and influences include Lauren Leduc, Marie Gough, Aliena Mobley, Erin Conyers, Sedona Alvarez, and many more.

Outside of yoga, Maggie enjoys connecting with her partner and child, rock climbing, reading, cooking, and playing with her dogs and cat.

Jules O

Yoga Teacher

Jules has been practicing yoga for many years and holds a 200 hour yoga certification from True Love Yoga. Yoga has helped Jules through many of life’s challenges, including anxiety and depression. Because of this, she loves providing students with a safe space to connect with the mind and body.

Jules enjoys teaching all styles of yoga and loves balancing poses. When practicing with her, students can expect a playful class focused on curiosity and self-exploration. She empowers students to do what feels right for their body in the current moment. For Jules, it’s all about how yoga feels rather than how it looks! Her teachers and influences include Lauren Leduc, Emily Devers, Sam Megraw, and Jordan Williams.

Outside of yoga, Jules enjoys reading, baking, being in nature, and spending time with her partner and their pets. She also teaches 8th grade science in a local school district.

Raven D

Yoga Teacher, Community and Facilities Manager

Deepy Silly and Spiritual with a twist of Witch, Raven Dawn is a firm believer in singing your truth and celebrating the unique song in others.

I took my first real life yoga class in August of 2023 at a time of immense grief and loss. What started as a an activity to find some joy in the grief quickly turned into the missing peace of the puzzle that I been wanting in life. Yoga gave me the permission to be, feel and move in authenticity and unapologetically. I strive to cultivate a class experience that will challenge you, surprise you but ultimately feels like having a laugh with a good friend.

I express deep gratitude to all teachers of yoga, especially Lauren Leduc, Sedona Alvarez, Maggie Coomer, Marie Gough, Liz Kerlin and Evy Adamson.

When Raven isn’t on the mat she can be found singing with Choral Spectrum, tending to two very spoiled cats and playing fantasy games like Skyrim

Katie Kriefall

Yoga Teacher

I remember my first yoga class so clearly. I was 18 years old and the youngest person in the room by 20 years. I sat on my mat for half the class just watching everyone in awe as they moved their bodies in ways that I had never seen. I’m not really sure why I kept returning to the class, but thankfully, I did. Battling scoliosis, a chest deformity, and chronic low back issues, yoga emerged as a beacon of positive transformation in my life, fostering both happiness and health. Since 2007, I’ve passionately embraced the role of a yoga instructor: my journey has unfolded alongside accomplished teachers globally, spanning countries such as India, Oman, Canada, and the U.S. My expertise now encompasses a spectrum of disciplines, including Sträla yoga, Tai-Chi/Qigong, Yin yoga, Ashtanga, kid’s yoga, and yoga therapy. I look forward to sharing a practice together!
